The Yarn & Sew Shop is located at 28589 Highway 18 in Sky Forest, California, a small hamlet in the vicinity of Lake Arrowhead. We are here to greet you Monday thru Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM and Sundays from 11:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
Locally, our area is referred to as the Willow Woods, where our shop is one of several cottages that over the years have been renovated and restored. In earlier times, some of these cottages were used as lodging for men who came to the mountains for logging and to enjoy good times fishing. However, times have changed and today these cottages are retail establishments, looked over by “Mr. Bear” our 18-foot carved bear.
In the mid-1980’s, Pat Nissen, our owner, moved her shop from Blue Jay to its present location, and since then our shop has become a haven for quilters and knitters alike. Today, the first floor of our unique A-frame building is devoted to quilters with well over 1,000 bolts of fabric, books, patterns, notions, and samples to inspire the quilter. Our second floor is an emporium for knitters and those who love the needle art crafts. Several thousand balls of yarn are on the second floor, and here again, you will find all of the books, patterns, and notions needed to complete a project. We also carry many wonderful gift items from Laurel Burch, Boyd Bears, Jim Shore, Carol Wilson, and the list goes on.
Over the years, our shop has been the proud sponsor of the locally held Willow Woods Outdoor Quilt Show that is held each summer. It is a very picturesque setting with the quilts swaying in the breeze between the tall and majestic trees in the Willow Woods area.
So, come Shop Hop time, we invite you to come up “above it all” to visit our beautiful mountain location.
